My brother Gabriel By: Fiona Maisel

This story is dedicated to my mom, dad and my sister Sophia so we will always remember him.

Ring, Ring, Ring the phone rang a high and low pitched tone.  “I’ll get it,” I yelled reaching out my sweaty hand grabbing the phone hoping and hoping it was the call that I was waiting for.
“Hello, this is the Maisel family, may I ask whose speaking?”  I asked.  “This is your dad and if you want to see the baby you better come NOW!”  My dad yelled.  I have never heard my dad talk like that, ever.  He was talking way to fast for me and probably also for him.
“Who was that?” My Grandma asked me with my younger sister Sophia curled under her favorite blue and maroon blanket only half awake.  “Baby… now… or… late!”  The words stumbled out of a my mouth like jelly beans jumping out of a bag.  I was about to repeat it without stumbling words coming out, but she seemed to understand.

“Girls grab some entertainment and we will be off!” my Grandma yelled as I went running to my room at top speed.  I wish I cleaned my room as I looked under and through dirty clothes, clean clothes and sheets.  Finally I found my book and my Nintendo DS.  In my head I felt dizzy, scared and speechless.  Zipping out of my bedroom, stumbling on all the stairs, I ran our the front door and we were off.

I wish we were there.  It was too dark to read and my DS just shut down on me.  Finally, we arrive.  I could see bright lights in the building.  My grandma parked the car.  We all went in.

“Next,” yelled a tall, slim police officer, “Phone number and email please.”

“How does the police officer look?” Sophia asked trying to look over the railing but still not being able, I pick her up.  “Oh, thanks Fiona!”
“This way girls, I think.  This is the way to this room, right?”  My Grandma asked a small lady with shoulder length chestnut hair.
“Here, let me show you.”  We walked to the door and recognized it at once.  The post card with a dewdrop and a maple leaf floating on the water was still taped to the door.  Sophia knocked.
“Come in.”  I heard a familiar voice say.  My legs became stiff, the door opened, I looked inside and saw my mom, dad and baby brother Ganriel.  I knew this would be the first time, the last time and the only time I would ever see him.
